In the contemporary digital age, protecting online privacy is becoming an increasingly pressing necessity, made elusive by technological advancement and the widespread use of digital services, which amplify the dangers related to personal data security. In this scenario, it is imperative to employ solutions that increase user awareness and control over their digital information. In response to this need, I conceived PRIVASSIST, the core of my final thesis project. PRIVASSIST, a term that combines “privacy” and “assist,” designates a web platform designed to counter and mitigate the risks inherent in digital life. Through an intuitive interface, it aims to educate users on the risks of the web and provide effective tools for data protection. The platform has a dual objective: on one hand, to raise awareness about the importance of digital privacy, and on the other, to equip users with operational tools for data security. PRIVASSIST integrates five main functionalities: browser tracker analysis, evaluation of one’s digital footprint, verification of data breaches, management of data ownership and the right to be forgotten, and the generation of a “Data Portrait” to outline, examine, and minimize users’ online exposure. The distinctive value of this platform lies in its ability to address privacy risks through a holistic approach.
